PMBA Coaching Program
Professional MBA students at the Sprott School of Business have exclusive access to our PMBA Coaching Program. This program connects current PMBA students with a trained coach in our Coaching Community for highly tailored and personalized professional development support.
What is Coaching?
Coaching unlocks a person’s potential to achieve their personal best in life and work.
- It’s a process that allows a person to: reflect and think out loud, gain self-awareness and confidence, gain insight into what is important to them, understand their strengths, see challenges clearly, lay out options and take action.
- In simple terms, coaching occurs through a series of conversations in which a coach uses their ability to listen deeply, ask powerful questions and create a relationship of trust and rapport that enables the client to achieve more by focusing on what is important.
- While a coach could be capable of advising you, bear in mind that the role of the coach is to support, challenge and hold you accountable to changes you want to make; coaching is not the same as mentoring, counselling, consulting or therapy.
- Coaching is for anyone, but it works best for those with a true desire to change and improve.
- Examples of coaching topics could include, but are not limited to: making a career pivot, seeking a promotion, improving performance, looking for better balance, or health and wellbeing. It is important to approach coaching with a desired outcome in mind. Very often, the end goal is a road map for the future
Program Details
Students interested in participating in the PMBA Coaching Program will review the coaches’ profiles in the Coaching Community directory and submit an application to formally participate in the program.
Once approved as a participant, students will be matched with a coach based on the answers provided on their application.
Once a coaching relationship has been formally established, students will meet with their coach for up to 3 sessions, each running 60 minutes, before the end of their PMBA studies. The school will facilitate the initial match and introductions. Sessions are to be scheduled directly between the student and the coach
- Your coach and you will have an initial discovery conversation, which will set the clear objectives and outcomes for the coaching contract.
- The coach will help facilitate exploration of your needs, skills and thought process to better help you identify your own solutions and action steps (instead of giving direct advice). They will be supportive and non-judgmental, be a thinking partner and help you to map out a plan, strategy for your goals.
- Coaching relationships typically last for longer than 3 sessions. If your 3 sessions completed while in program are a success and you wish to continue with your coach, paid packages will be available to you after program completion.
