Professor Luciara Nardon has been awarded the 2023 Carol-Ann Tetrault Sirsly Award (the Sprott Publication Award).

Her extensive work on migrant and refugee employment identifies the barriers to employment integration that these groups of workers face.

In the process, it clarifies which supports marginalized workers have found most useful and encourages targeted and systemic innovation to promote inclusive workplaces.

Luciara’s recent work on international and refugee students similarly aligns with our strategic goals. By shedding light on the unique challenges international students faced due to pandemic-mitigation measures, Luciara and co-author Amrita Hari have bolstered our ability to foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment for all.

Moreover, by casting a spotlight on refugee students’ transition from higher education to employment, Luciara and co-author Aliya Kuzhabekova clarify what research and skills development are most needed to bring about improvement in this area.
