BIB students may apply to complete a credited international internship as part of their year abroad requirement, as outlined in the Undergraduate Calendar. Students participating in the BIB internship cohort can be pre-approved to complete one study term abroad and one internship term, or two internship terms.
BIB students may apply in the fall term of their second year for approval to participate in an international internship. The application will be available to eligible students via mySprott, under the BIB Internship tab. Please indicate in your application what is your intended work/study sequence: work | work, work | study, or study | work.
Note: all students applying to complete an internship are still required to apply to the Exchange program via Carleton Central. In order to have their internship approved, students in the internship cohort must secure their international internship and withdraw from the exchange program at least 8 weeks prior to the start of their study term abroad. A study term cannot overlap with an internship term.
To meet the BIB Year Abroad requirements, internships must meet all of the following criteria:
BIB students must successfully complete their BUSI internship course to receive credit for their internship and meet their Year Abroad requirement. Students will be enrolled in BUSI 3701 (0.5 credits) during their internship. If completing a second internship term, students will be enrolled in BUSI 3702 (0.5 credits) during their second internship term.
Students can secure a paid internship to help fund their year abroad; however, if you secure an unpaid internship, it may still be approved by Sprott.
Students in the BIB Internship cohort will be required to agree to the terms and conditions outlined in the BIB Internship Participation Agreement. This is a PDF for reference. Accept your BIB Internship Participation Agreement on mySuccess.
