Cultivating Consumer Mindfulness through Social Media Wellness Influencers
Principal Investigator: Dora Wang, Marketing
Project Title: Cultivating Consumer Mindfulness through Social Media Wellness Influencers
Funder: Sprott Development Grant
Duration: 1 year
This pilot study explores how social media wellness influencers can help cultivate consumer mindfulness and enhance well-being in an increasingly digital world. As interest in health and wellness continues to grow, the research investigates how influencers use content, communication styles, and platform features to encourage mindful habits and healthier lifestyles. Through a combination of social media analysis and consumer interviews, the study examines how people learn, practice, and integrate mindfulness into their daily lives through online wellness communities. The findings will advance understanding of mindfulness in digital consumption contexts, inform ethical marketing and public health communication practices, and support the development of a larger SSHRC-funded research program focused on consumer well-being and digital wellness.
