Update on impact of the Sustainable Accounting and Finance Conference
In April 2022, over 120 leading industry and academic experts met online for the SSHRC-sponsored Sustainable Accounting and Finance Conference, hosted by the Sprott School of Business under the leadership of Leanne Keddie (Assistant Professor, Accounting) and co-PIs Kate Ruff (Associate Professor, Accounting) and Isaac Otchere (Professor, Finance).
With a focus on the critical role of sustainability in our financial world, the conference allowed delegates to discuss ways of closing the gap between sustainable finance and sustainable accounting analyses, on one hand, and current reporting practices, on the other. It also fostered knowledge sharing about such critical tools in this arena as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) framework.
