Brock Lupal is president and general manager of Luminor Environmental, a Canadian cleantech manufacturer of UV water disinfection solutions. After graduating with his Bachelor of Commerce in 2016, Brock started his career at Luminor as a business development manager. At the time, the company had 10 employees. Brock held multiple titles including a business development manager, sales representative, executive vice president, and now the CEO and general manager. Today, Luminor has more than 70 employees with teams in Canada, USA, and Spain, and exports products to 75 countries around the world.

During his time at Sprott, Brock learned how to use long-term planning in an organizational setting through his business courses. The important presentation skills, business fundamentals, and marketing strategies Brock learned in his degree program are tools that have supported his professional development through his career.

During the period that Brock served as Executive Vice-President, Business Development, Luminor Environmental received the 2021 Deloitte Fast 500 Award, which recognizes the fastest-growing technology firms in North America. That same year, Luminor was named a winner in the inaugural Clean Technology category for the 2021 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 for Canada. Brock was a key player in growing new sales channels and building and strengthening relationships with clients. He also played a large role in the expansion of the company, which included moving to a larger location to accommodate the increase in staff and increase in physical inventory.

Brock’s achievements in his career so far are why he was nominated and received the Sprott Alumni Award for Early Achievement Award. Since receiving this award, Brock shared advice for students:

“Pick the company not necessarily the role. Find a company that is growing. Find a company that values hard work. Find a company that will lift you up and let you grow professionally. Don’t focus on the title or the money. Don’t be afraid to try things that you may know nothing about, there is a lot of opportunity to learn new things even if you don’t have a background in it. You never know what the perfect fit for you will be”.
