The Sprott School of Business at Carleton University is pleased to announce the following faculty members have received promotions and new appointments, effective July 1, 2021.
A member of Sprott's international business faculty, Luciara Nardon has been promoted to the rank of full professor. Promotion to the rank of full professor is based on significant contributions to research and one’s professional fields. Luciara has a multidisciplinary research program where she delves into the sociological and behavioural side of business. Much of her research looks at how people think and behave within a work environment, which is often influenced by their cultural background. She is passionate about understanding the cognitive process that can influence and facilitate a cohesive and collaborative working environment. Luciara is also co-director of the Centre for Research on Inclusion at Work (CRIW) at the Sprott School of Business.
Ernest Kwan is a member of Sprott's supply chain management faculty member at Sprott and has been promoted to associate professor. Promotion to the rank of associate professor is based on a strong and successful record of research and teaching and service to the University. Ernest’s research is focused on three areas: development of statistical graphs, variable importance, and application of qualitative methods in business research.
Emily Gray has been appointed as the program director for Sprott's Master of Accounting program. Emily is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and an accounting instructor at Sprott. In addition to her teaching, Emily works with CPA Canada’s evaluation teams for CPA PEP and the CFE. Before joining Sprott, she was a senior auditor at Deloitte, in the private client services group, and a financial management adviser at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Sprott extends great thanks and best wishes to Jacques Maurice, outgoing MAcc director, as he starts his sabbatical on July 1.
Leighann Neilson has been appointed as the academic director of the MSc and PhD in Management programs. An associate professor of marketing, Leighann's research focuses on historical aspects of marketing and consumption. She is also a research associate with the Carleton Centre for Public History, has held several executive positions within the CHARM (Conference on Historical Analysis and Research in Marketing) Association, and is a founding editorial board member of the Journal of Historical Research in Marketing (JHRM).
Leighann is also interested in sociological and anthropological aspects of consumption. She is currently researching disposal, the final stage of consumption, using a consumer culture theory (CCT) lens.
