What are we looking for?

We are looking for managers, consultants, experienced entrepreneurs, and civil servants to serve as jurors for the competition – smart people with real-world business insight. They will serve on judging panels with alumni from previous case competitions.

What are the cases like?

ROCA Cases will describe a business problem/opportunity facing an organization, and provide the information and opinions that the manager has currently available. ROCA cases will be relevant and challenging, and will cover a broad range of interdisciplinary business problems. Intense competition across sectors of our economy is forcing the introduction of newer technologies, while at the same time cooperation replaces pure self-interest. All will focus on business strategy, though individual cases may lean toward marketing, human resource management, operations, or financial issues.

What to expect as a judge?

As a judge, you will sit on a jury of 5 judges. Each jury will comprise of a diverse group of individuals from various backgrounds (faculty, alumnus, industry professionals). The jury will meet on their respective day (from 12pm/noon to 5pm EST) to watch presentations from the competing schools, deliberate on divisional winners and provide feedback to the competing teams. One member of each jury is the head judge. Head judges meet and deliberate on overall case winners for each case.

Note: The competition will be held in person at Carleton university, therefore you need to be in Ottawa on the day you participate as a judge.
