Angel Henchey

PhD Candidate & Contract Instructor

Area of Research: Management and Strategy

Angel is actively pursuing a Ph.D. in Management, with a specialization in Organizational Behavior, at Carleton University. Driven by an interest in careers and equity, diversity, and inclusion, her current projects are focused on finding ways to best support individuals in their careers, to help them make effective and successful decisions and changes in their career development.

Alongside her supervisor, Dr. Linda Schweitzer, and her research team, Angel is researching remote, hybrid, and in-office work arrangements, as more individuals are being asked back to the office full-time. Her thesis looks to contribute to evolving workplaces, proposing a reconceptualization of performance that extends beyond traditional performance metrics, which have typically neglected well-being and long-term organizational objectives. Angel is also working under a Mitacs Internship with Engineers Yukon, exploring the relationship between caregiving skills and the engineering profession.

Angel has been awarded the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. She has also presented at several conferences, including Academy of Management (AOM), European Academy of Management (EURAM), the Academy of International Business (AIB), the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC), the Gender, Work & Organization Conference (GWO), and Carleton’s Early Career Researcher Conference presented by the Center for Research on Inclusion at Work (CRIW).

Angel recently won a Best Paper for Writing Differently at AOM for her paper “Moments of Care in and Among Ravaged Reveries: Etuaptmumk Weavings of Community and Compassion” alongside her co-authors Dr. Stefanie Ruel and Dr. Adriana Van Hilten. She was one of the recipients of the Best Reviewer Award at AOM and AIB. She also has experience reviewing journal articles for Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management, the Journal of Global Mobility, Organization, and the International Journal of Gender, Science, and Technology.
