MBA Admissions
GMAT Waiver
Applicants who have completed, in the past five years, a four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, business or economics from a recognized Canadian university, with a minimum overall average of B+ may request a GMAT Waiver with their application for consideration by the admissions team.
(Please note: Meeting the above-mentioned eligibility criteria does not guarantee a waiver. All waiver considerations are up to the discretion of our admissions team.)
MBA Admission Requirements
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree with an overall cumulative grade point average of a “B” which is the equivalent of 8.0/12 on Carleton’s scale. The CGPA calculation will be based on all four years of study.
- Two academic recommendations from Professors are required unless the candidate meets the work experience criteria, as defined in the “Application Process” section, in which professional references may then be substituted.
- The Sprott School requires that all applicants submit a GMAT Exam result with a minimum score of 550, a GMAT Focus Edition with a minimum score of 515, or an equivalent GRE (Graduate Record Exam) score. To calculate your equivalent GRE score, you can use the GRE Comparison Table for Business Schools.
- Students with two or more years of professional work experience may apply to be exempted from the internship once in-program.
- Statement of Intent (once the online application process begins, applicants will have access to the ‘three’ Statement of Intent questions)
- Professional Resume
- Those candidates who have been shortlisted may receive an invitation to participate in a video interview.
- Proficiency in English
Visit the Application Process page for additional important admissions and application information.

- Professional work experience is defined as positions which include managing or supervising team members and may include responsibility of a large portion of a project life-cycle; managing time, budget and resources; leading a team in developing needs assessments, processes, and delivery options; strategic and financial planning; or collaboration with key stakeholders.

Domestic Students – 16 month | $20,000 |
Domestic Students – Accelerated (12 months) | $14,000 |
Tuition and other fees are based on the number of terms of study and the residency status of the applicant—i.e., domestic (Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada) or international. To estimate the fees that will apply to you, please use Carleton’s Fee Estimator* and keep the following in mind:
- The MBA is a full-time program and subject to full-time fees. The standard MBA stream consists of four study terms. The Accelerated MBA stream consists of three study terms.
- The University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) is mandatory for international students, and covers the cost of physician/hospital medical services for students and their immediate families.
*All amounts are in Canadian dollars. Annual tuition and student fees are set by the University each year and are subject to change. Fees may also be affected by the speed at which you progress through the program.
Funding Opportunities
Funding packages are not included with MBA offers at the time of admission, though all students will be considered for a limited number of merit-based entrance scholarships (near the start of the term). There are also a number of awards that MBA students can apply for once in-program. Students will be notified when the applications are available. These include donor-funded awards and external awards.
