Employability Passport Criteria and Request Form

Facts Sheet for Sprott Clubs Wanting to Advertise Events towards Employability Passport

EP Coordinator can be reached at employability.passport@carleton.ca

  1. Fill the EP Request Form with as many details about the event as possible and send it back to Employability Passport Coordinator. Please give as much notice as possible
    – When sending back the form ensure the document is saved with a title that includes the name of the club, event and date of the event.
  2. Once you receive confirmation from EP Coordinator, as to which badges the event could qualify for, ensure the wording is advertised. Choose from one of the following below:
Employability Passport: This is an internal event that counts towards activities in BUSI 1995, BUSI 1996, BUSI 2995, and BUSI 3995 (Networking & Professionalism). Consult assignment instructions for more details.
Employability Passport: This is an internal event that counts towards activities in BUSI 1997 and BUSI 3995 (Technology). Consult assignment instructions for more details.
  3. To keep the different stakeholders informed including the Sprott Career Team please ensure the following are completed:
    – Add the event to the Sprott Events Calendar in mySuccess. You can add the basic event details along with a registration method (mySuccess, Sprott School of Business, Sprott Events Calendar, Add an Event) and do not forget to include Employability Passport Eligibility to avoid any confusion. This will sit as Pending – a Sprott Career Team member will look it over and approve.
    – Add an entry to Sprott off the Press. Try to post at least couple of weeks in front of your event date. Deadline to submit is end of day Wednesday, prior to release date.
    – Complete the Sprott Event Information Form
  4. During the event, make note of who attends the event, and who leaves before the end. Students who enter after the 10-minute mark, should not be let into the event. Mark only those who stay for the entire event as attended.
  5. Compile an Excel Sheet of BCOM and BIB students (first and last names) who attended. Please save the document with the title that includes the name, date and times of the event and send to EP Coordinator via email within 24 to 48hrs.

Employability Passport Eligibility for Club Events

It is the Club’s responsibility to provide a very detailed event description using the “EP Request Form” to the EP Coordinator who will then determine whether or it will qualify for the Employability Passport. Please give as much notice as possible!

Reminder: Students must check the Sprott Clubs Event Hub dedicated to supporting the success of your events. Please ensure to complete any relevant procedures and forms along with submitting this request.

Below please see information that should provide some guidance to help you plan events that will qualify for the Employability Passport. Please reach out to the Employability Passport Coordinator if you have any questions at employability.passport@carleton.ca

Networking and Professionalism

Networking event: An organized event with employer(s) where students have the chance to meet and interact with professional(s) from various industries/companies/sectors.

Information session: A meeting or presentation where an organization shares details about their work. These sessions are designed to help students learn more about a specific industry/company/sector, its culture, and what they look for in candidates.

Attending networking events and information sessions is vital for one’s career growth because it allows them to build valuable connections, gain industry insights, and explore career opportunities.

Technology

A technology event is any organized gathering or workshop focused on teaching students new or relevant technological skills that are in demand. To qualify, the event must provide hands-on learning/demonstrations or seminars on emerging technologies. These events help students stay current with industry standards and improve technical expertise.
