Ernest received his M.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the supervision of Forrest Young. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology from York University under the supervision of Michael Friendly.

One area of his research is the development of statistical graphics; recently, he received The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grant to develop visualization tools for teaching and learning statistics. Another area of his research is variable importance; particularly, he has been developing new data analysis tools to facilitate the application of importance indices. Ernest’s third area of interest is the application of quantitative methods in business research; he has recently conducted studies in country image and in youth entrepreneurship.

Ernest teaches statistics and research methods courses in the Ph.D., Masters, and undergraduate levels.

Recently, he received The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grant to develop visualization tools for teaching and learning statistics. Currently, he holds a SSHRC Insight Development Grant to explore why consumers buy repurposed products and a Carleton University’s COVID 19 Rapid Response Research Grant to investigate consumer’s attitude towards sustainable consumption during the COVID 19 pandemic.
