Abstract: In this talk I will introduce and discuss strategic corporate philanthropy (CP) practices. I first examine corporate philanthropy and show it as both an altruistic and strategic endeavour, but that it can lack a strong marketing component. I then show how firms can use corporate philanthropy as a proactive marketing instrument through their many societal contributions. Finally, a framework and four strategic recommendations are proposed that connect corporate philanthropy with contemporary marketing practices.
