Using Documentary Methods Within Innovation Research: Some Discoveries and Takeaways from a Study of Toronto’s Laneway Project

Daved’s talk centers on the Fulbright Canada grant that he received to study Canadian Public Sector Innovation using narrative methods. After many twists and turns with the project, he ended up doing a documentary study of community innovation–specifically the conversion of sometimes dangerous Toronto alleyways into attractive public spaces. One of Daved’s biggest findings has been around how documentary methods can lead to insights that traditional qualitative methods cannot, and this will be his primary focus during the talk.
