The Black Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (BEKH) is a national network of research hubs involved in community-based research, with a mandate to improve the lived experiences of the Black community. One of our mandates is to also build Black Research capacity so Black Students and Faculty are strongly encouraged to attend.

As a background, in December 2021, Minister Ng announced Carleton University, along with our community engagement partner Dream Legacy Foundation, as the lead partners to establish the Black Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub. Our mission is to be the national central hub for research, data and insights on Black entrepreneurship in Canada by orchestrating structured community-led research collaborations anchored in regional hubs comprised of community and academic researchers, community organizations and post-secondary institutions, whose voices and participation are central to our work. Together, we will deliver important knowledge, insights, and outcomes that resonate with the local regional needs of Black entrepreneurs, community members and organizations across Canada.

During the session, we will share updates on progress to date and provide you an opportunity to learn how you can partner, collaborate and/or participate in this research. As we establish the BEKH, we are committed to ensuring that scholars, students, community researchers, communities and entrepreneurs’ voices and participation within the Black Community are central to our work.
