CRIW Inclusion, My Muse
The Centre for Research on Inclusion at Work (CRIW) is seeking submissions for “Inclusion, My Muse” – an exhibit showcasing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI)-inspired art in varied mediums. An immersive experience hosted in the Nicol Building Atrium over three consecutive days, “Inclusion, My Muse” will showcase a number of paintings, works on paper, sculptures, photographs, and others, to explore the various ways that artists are “Doing the Work” of EDI, through creative expression.
All are welcome! No formal training or experience is needed.
Art pieces will be displayed in the Nicol Building Atrium from October 16 to October 18.
Successful entrants will be notified via email after October 9, 2023.
Submissions must include:
- A photograph, link to, or attachment of, the art piece you would like to be considered.
- The title of submission.
- A brief description (i.e., approx. 100-200 words) providing an account of how your creation speaks to equity, diversity, and inclusion-related themes. These descriptions could include the inspiration behind your art, an experience it is meant to portray, the message you hope it conveys, and/or otherwise. These descriptions will be featured alongside successful entries and contribute to the exhibit’s aim of championing inclusion.
- Any information pertaining to what would be needed to display your art (e.g., a table, television, somewhere to mount your piece, etc.), including the approximate dimensions of your piece.
This event promises to be a powerful display of EDI-informed work. It is sure to inspire attendees to reflect on the messages being translated through art, and consider how one could use their passions and talents to advance EDI in innovative ways. We are so thankful for your participation!
