Sprott Grads Named to CPA Honour Roll

Two graduates of Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business were named to the prestigious CPA National Honour Roll for placing in the top one per cent of close to 4,000 candidates who successfully wrote the Common Final Exam (CFE) in September 2024.

Nick Zarichny (MAcc/24) and Emma Fox (BCom/22) join a prestigious group of 14 accounting graduates from Carleton’s Sprott School of Business to be named to the CPA Canada’s Honour Roll since 2018 – solidifying Sprott’s position as a leader in accounting education.

“My first reaction was shock,” said Emma, Senior Accountant (Audit and Assurance), Deloitte Ottawa, upon learning her CFE results. “It was definitely something I was not expecting. I think a lot of people look at the Honour Roll as the writers who get everything correct on the exam, which when leaving the exam, I knew was not me. Day two was especially hard!”

“Once the shock wore off, I felt proud of the hard work I put in to get to this position and relieved the long journey to reach this point had come to an end. I was also really grateful for the support system I had around me from colleagues, to friends, to family.”

Building upon its legacy of accounting excellence, the Sprott School of Business recently launched a new Bachelor of Accounting program to compliment its accounting offerings that include the CPA-accredited Master of Accounting, Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting concentration, and Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting.

Starting this September, Sprott’s Bachelor of Accounting prepares students to pursue the CPA designation with advanced and in-depth accounting knowledge and practices, designed through consultation with industry and aligned to the latest changes in the CPA competency map.
