Lina Salama, MAcc graduate, makes CFE Honour Roll
The CFE Honour roll is comprised of the top approximately one per cent of successful CFE writers. This year, Lina Salama, a graduate of Sprott’s Master of Accounting (MAcc) program, was among this distinguished group. The Common Final Examination (CFE) is the final exam conducted by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA) and the final step in becoming a CPA.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have earned a spot on the CFE Honour Roll. Going into the exam, I knew I had given it my all and I would have been happy with any outcome,” Lina shared. “I’ve always lived by the principle that ‘you don’t want to look back and know you could’ve done better.’ After months of studying, receiving the news meant that all that hard work was worth it.”
Lina said the Carleton MAcc program played a big role in this accomplishment because of the incredible instructors, supportive peers, and helpful resources at Sprott.
“The Carleton MAcc program helped me to develop strong case writing skills—the most crucial skill for the CFE and an important transferrable skill for my professional career. Every instructor is an expert in their field, which meant that I was able to leverage their expertise to increase my knowledge. Throughout the program, I received valuable study and exam preparation advice that helped me feel more confident going into the exam,” said Lina.
Lina’s best advice to those looking to write the CFE is to prioritize your mental and physical health. For Lina, that included establishing a consistent nighttime routine that involved going to bed at the same time and reading each night. She continued this throughout all three days of the CFE, which allowed her to fall asleep easily, get her rest and perform her best on the exam.
“Remember that nobody will feel 100 per cent ready going into CFE. There will always be more to study. Do the best you can with the time you have available and focus on the most impactful areas based on the CPA competency map,” said Lina.
“I’m grateful for everyone who has helped me on this journey. A big thank you to my family and friends, my supportive colleagues at Jobber, and the incredible professors at Carleton.”
