Call for LLeaP Proposals
Faculty members, contract instructors, adjunct faculty, and PhD candidates:
Would you like to share your knowledge with engaged and enthusiastic learners from the Ottawa community? The Centre for Initiatives in Education at Carleton University is accepting proposals in any academic discipline for the 2024 sessions of the Lifelong Learning Program (LLeaP).
LLeaP offers non-credit lecture series and workshops to adults of all ages who are motivated by interests and their love of learning. Lecture series and workshops can be held virtually or in-person, and do not include required texts, homework, or grading.

In the Winter 2024 Session we are offering various 6-week long series, which will run between January 17th – March 14th.
LLeaP series classes:
- Typically each lecture series is offered once a week for two hours, for six consecutive weeks (total of six classes; 12 teaching hours).
- Classes range in size from 15-55, depending on registration, workshop vs lecture format, modality (online vs in-person), and room capacity.
- There are no prerequisites, and no exams or assignments to mark. Class content should be accessible to all levels of prior knowledge.
LLeaP participants:
Participants are engaged and eager to learn. Most are older adults, have a postsecondary degree, and are retired professionals.
LLeaP lecturers:
- Lecturers are responsible for preparing and supplying their own teaching materials (including notes, videos, electronic presentations, etc.).
- Lecturers are hired for each session separately. Currently there are five separate LLeaP sessions per year (winter, two in the spring, summer, and two in the fall). We sometimes offer a summer session.
The rate of pay for teaching in LLeaP is $100.00 per teaching hour, for a total of $1,200 for a 12-hour lecture series/workshop. No grading or office hours.
Please use our online proposal form: https://carleton.ca/lifelong/new-lecturer-proposal-form/ and contact us if you need further information. If you are applying to teach for LLeaP for the first time, please get in touch with the LLeaP team prior to the proposal deadline so that we can schedule an interview with you.
