Shining a spotlight on workplace mistreatment of people with disabilities

Principal Investigator: Angela Dionisi, Management
Project Title: Workplace Mistreatment: The Lived Experience of People with Disabilities
Funder: SSHRC Insight Grant

Although one in every five Canadians lives with a disability, the experiences of people with disabilities have routinely been excluded from explorations of workplace mistreatment. This two-study research project will contribute to the literature by giving voice to this historically muted group of employees. More specifically, the first study will clarify how workplace mistreatment materializes for those with disabilities, and the second will shed light on how these employees respond to their mistreatment.

The knowledge generated will elucidate the nature, scope, and subtleties of workplace mistreatment for those of varying identities. It will empower organizations to tailor their training initiatives and policies to align with the lived experiences of people with disabilities and will guide their efforts to eliminate the barriers to equity and inclusivity that these individuals face.
