Mohamed Al Guindy Establishes Infrastructure Support Precedent for Sprott Researchers

Mohamed Al Guindy, Assistant Professor, Finance, Sprott School of Business at Carleton University.

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Finance Mohamed Al Guindy, the first researcher in Sprott School of Business’ history to submit successful applications to the Canadian Foundation for Innovation’s John Evans Leaders Fund (CFI JELF) and the Ontario Research Fund’s Small Infrastructure Fund (ORF SIF).

Although Mohamed secured his CFI award last fall, results from the corresponding ORF SIF competition, which is separately adjudicated, were only announced this spring.

Since then, Mohamed has been working with Carleton University Procurement Services and Facilities Management and Planning to obtain the newly funded infrastructure. Stay tuned for details about the launch of his Social Media & Finance Lab, which is expected to take place this fall. Learn more about the research that the new infrastructure will support.

CFI JELF and ORF SIF are complementary awards that provide individuals or small groups of researchers with infrastructure necessary to their research program. The CFI and ORF each contribute up to 40 per cent of total eligible costs, with the remaining 20 per cent (or more) coming from the institution and/or other partners.
