Project Title: Water Conversations and Knowledge Exchange with the Na Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation: A Community-Based Approach
Funder: SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant
Partner: First Nation of Na Cho Nyäk Dun
This is a participatory action research project conducted in partnership with World Skills This project focuses on the complex problem of potable water access in Northern communities in Canada. Working with and learning from our partner, we will assess the context around this issue, including its physical and social settings, key actors, and history. We will also consider relations between these factors. No prevailing assumptions about challenges to potable water access in Northern and remote communities will be taken at face value, lest the assumptions themselves contribute to the intractability of the problem. Ultimately, the objective is not only to inform ourselves as researchers, but also to develop a tool that will engage community members and motivate them to collaborate in the co-design of appropriate solutions to the problem.
