Sprott’s Leanne Keddie receives SSHRC Connection Grant for upcoming Sustainable Accounting and Finance Conference

Leanne Keddie, Assistant Professor from Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business has been awarded the Connection Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) in the November 2021 competition.

SSHRC’s Connection Grant supports events and outreach activities geared toward short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives. These events and activities represent opportunities to exchange knowledge and to engage with participants on research issues of value to them.

This grant will provide support for the upcoming Sustainable Accounting and Finance Conference being held at the Sprott School of Business on April 27 & 28, 2022. The theme of the conference is ‘Data-driven investments’ since this data affects both accounting and finance and creates the need for urgent collaboration between these two realms.

The event will combine a peer-reviewed academic conference and a practitioner-focused conference with industry speakers and panelists from North America, Africa, Australia, UK, and Europe. Speakers include Dr. Ben Caldecott, founding Director of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group at the University of Oxford and Dr. Cathy Clark from Duke University, one of the top 20 women in the USA working in social innovation. The conference will facilitate dialogue and discussion between the challenges and opportunities in the areas of sustainable accounting and finance as well as provide a platform for academics and practitioners to connect and learn from one another to better inform future research and practice.

Attendance can be virtual or in-person. Students should take special note as their attendance is free. Spaces are limited so be sure to register now!
