Sprott Alumni Award Recipients Recognized For Their Impact
Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business is proud to announce the recipients of the 2022 Sprott Alumni Awards. These awards honour the exceptional achievements of Sprott alumni for the impact they have made in their careers, professions and/or communities.
Congratulations to the 2022 Sprott Alumni Award Recipients:
- Early Achievement Award – Brock Lupal, BCom/16
- Professional Achievement Award – Jordana Pourian, BCom/05
- Good Business Award – Raju Agarwal, BCom/93
Sprott Alumni Award: Early Achievement
This award recognizes a Carleton University graduate of a bachelor degree in business who has received their degree within the last 10 years and has achieved significant professional accomplishments since graduation.
Brock Lupal, BCom/16, is President and General Manager of Luminor Environmental, a Canadian cleantech manufacturer of UV water disinfection solutions. Having concentrated in Marketing, Brock started at the company in sales and business development, and was promoted quickly through the ranks during his tenure.
During the period that Brock served as Vice-President of Business Development, Luminor Environmental received the 2021 Deloitte Fast 500 Award, which recognizes the fastest growing technology firms in North America. That same year, Luminor was named a winner in the inaugural Clean Technology category for the 2021 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 for Canada.
Brock is an advocate for local manufacturing and clean technology.
Sprott Alumni Award: Professional Achievement
This award recognizes a Carleton University graduate of any business degree who has demonstrated outstanding achievement within their career or community service initiatives.
Jordana Pourian, BCom/05, is Senior Vice-President of Operations and Chief of Staff at Aritzia, an innovative fashion retailer with more than 100 stores in North America and a global e-commerce platform. Jordana, who concentrated in Information Systems, joined Aritzia in 2007 as a project manager.
In 2010, as Director of Project Operations, Jordana led the development of Artizia’s e-commerce operation, from defining the vision to implementation. This was a massive undertaking that resulted in a highly successful and important sales channel for Ariztia.
In 2016, Jordana led the creation of Aritizia’s Learning and Development function. She later expanded her role further with the addition of corporate responsibility. And, in 2019, she was appointed to her current role.
In 2019, Jordana was recognized by Business in Vancouver with a Top 40 Under 40 Award.
Jordana is a strong advocate for the advancement of women and has served on the board of One Girl Can since 2018.
Sprott Alumni Award: Good Business
This award recognizes a Carleton University graduate of a degree program in business who has made a positive impact in local, regional or global communities through their professional, voluntary or philanthropic endeavours.
Raju Agarwal, BCom/93, led a successful career in IT project management before shifting his career focus to creating a positive impact and improving lives. Raju is founder and CEO of OneProsper International, a nonprofit organization that empowers women to break the cycle of poverty.
OneProsper International focuses its support in the Thar Desert, one of the poorest regions in India where girls have the lowest literacy rates. In addition to providing school supplies, transportation and tuition to help girls attend school, OneProsper takes a holistic approach to address the many barriers to education.
As girls in this region spend upwards of 7 hours a day collecting water, OneProsper builds rainwater harvesting tanks to give girls the time to go to school. Each tank is inscribed with the mother’s name to show girls that women are important as in their culture, women are not valued.
OneProsper also provides farming training and seeds to ensure they have the nutrition they need thrive. Women in the Thar Desert grow millet to support their families and OneProsper provides tools and training to help them significantly increase their income.
OneProsper has supported 230 girls in school and 130 families in the Thar Desert. In addition, OneProsper delivers an English Learning Buddy Program that pairs North American high school student volunteers with girls in India to practice and develop their English language skills.
