Despite the importance of immigration to local economic growth, research continues to suggest low employment outcomes of immigrants. Several initiatives aimed at facilitating immigrants’ integration into the workforce have been implemented and researched. This proposed project draws on a partnership between researchers at the Centre for Research on Inclusion at Work and World Skills Employment Centre to explore the role of pre-employment mentorship in immigrants’ career advancement. The goal of this project is to better understand the experience of immigrants participating in mentorship programs, identify best practices in mentoring that can be incorporated into employing organizations’ hiring, training, and retaining of immigrant talent, and extend the impact of such
mentorship programs across industry sectors.
