Carleton University continues to be a leader in promoting Canadian startups’ global growth. Carleton’s Innovation Hub and the Canada-India Centre for Excellence have partnered to support women-led Canadian companies’ expansion into one of the fastest-growing markets – India, currently the fifth-largest economy in the world.

As part of the Government of Canada-supported Canada-India Acceleration Program (CIAP), the university will deliver a ScaleCamp to 25 Canadian companies looking to expand their footprint in the Indian market. Following the ScaleCamp, companies will pitch to a panel of subject matter experts for $20,000 in cash prizes.

This year’s program will connect the cohort to key Indian stakeholders through a virtual Soft-landing. While the virtual option was offered due to COVID-19 restrictions, it also helps lower barriers to entry and enables more Canadian companies in considering India as a potential market.

ScaleCamp for Leadership and International Growth

The 4-day virtual ScaleCamp will see Canadian and Indian experts share insights with participating founders. The program focuses on key growth-oriented topics such as leadership for women leaders, cross-cultural business engagement, the Indian innovation ecosystem, and the Canadian support system for international growth.

After the ScaleCamp, participating founders will have access to personal coaching, business mentoring, and market research support through Carleton’s Innovation Hub. To conclude this year’s program, Carleton will organize an investment panel to raise capital to support their global expansion plans.

CIAP is open to all Southern Ontario-based small and medium-sized businesses with a woman in a leadership position. The program has already supported over 30 companies and $10 million in revenue generation in the last three years.
