Facilitating the recruitment of international talent
Principal Investigator: Luciara Nardon, International Business
Project Title: Enhancing Labor Outcomes through Sector Specific Initiatives
Funder: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, World Skills Employment Center
This is a participatory action research project conducted in partnership with World Skills Employment Centre to identify, implement, and assess initiatives to increase employer engagement and newcomer employment outcomes. The project will
- identify the needs of employers across 15 employment sectors
- describe the experiences of newcomers seeking employment in these sectors
- assess the efficacy of sector specific outreach and training strategies on employment engagement and newcomer employment outcomes
Luciara will help her partner organization identify best practices for employment engagement and newcomer training in order to facilitate immigrant access to employment. The research will benefit all interested parties: immigrants (i.e., by leading to improved services and employment support), employers (i.e., by facilitating a customized approach to international recruitment), and the World Skills Employment Center as an organization (i.e., by providing feedback on intervention design and effectiveness).
