A team of Sprott MBA students took home first place from the marketing case competition in this year’s MBA Games. A student-run, Canada-wide event, the annual MBA Games joined over 600 MBA students from 20 universities across Canada for three days of competition in academics, sports, and spirit.
The Sprott MBA marketing team, comprised of Andrei Ghita, Blake Daly, Harsh Vaniwala, and Kiarash Khorram, earned a coveted glass trophy for their first place win, out of 20 participating schools.
“The presentation experience was exciting and also nerve wracking, but in the end we felt we had done really well,” said Kiarash. “It is hard to describe the feeling once we realized we had won first place. With the entire Sprott team around, it was more like we all owned it rather than just the four of us. I felt so proud.”
A delegation of 23 Sprott MBA students competed in the 2019 MBA Games that were hosted by Ryerson University over the weekend of January 4-6. The academic teams fell into four separate categories: Finance, Marketing, Strategy, and Technology. Both of Sprott’s sports teams, volleyball and basketball, advanced to the playoffs.
Leading up to the competition, MBA students on the academic teams took part in four-hour case practices every weekend throughout November and December. These sessions were coached by team captain Stanley Dam, President of the Sprott MBA Society, along with the help of Sprott faculty members.
“A big thank you to everyone who was involved in this year’s MBA Games, including the organizing committee, our entire Sprott delegation, and especially to our marketing team for bringing a big win home,” said Stanley. “If you see these team members on campus, please be sure to congratulate them on this exciting win for the Sprott MBA program!”
