Sprott students bring home medals from three inter-university case competitions
Sprott students are off to a strong start in the 2016 case competition season. Sprott Competes undergraduate teams brought home six medals from three inter-university case competitions, which took place over the past two weeks.
I.C.B.C. (Queens University, Kingston, Ontario)
Over the weekend, Sprott students competed in the finals of the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (I.C.B.C.) in the categories of Accounting, Business Policy, Debate, Finance, and Management of Information Systems (MIS).
Kevin Pei and Chris Rozon, coached by Professors Mike Hine and Rob Riordan, won first place in the MIS category.
Robert Curtis and Brian Ho, coached by Erin Olford, won second place in Finance.
Third place was won in Accounting by Michael Hidden and Alex Pilon, and in Business Policy by Arya Abawi, Gwynne Cunningham and Karen Tran. They were coached by Professors Emily Gray and Linda Schweitzer respectively.
Organized by Queen’s University, I.C.B.C. is the oldest and longest running undergraduate business case competition in Canada. Close to 100 competitors from business schools across the country took part in the event, which ran from January 14 to 16 in Kingston, Ontario.
Global Family Enterprise Case Competition (University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont)
Also this weekend, Briana Paterson Sonnenburg, Alice Seah and Trevor Smith won the bronze medal in the University of Vermont’s Global Family Enterprise Case Competition. They were coached by Danielle Walsh.
The Global Family Enterprise Case Competition focuses on the critical issues unique to family enterprise. The competition has two streams: graduate and undergraduate. Students from universities in 10 countries took part in the 2016 competition.
JDC Central (Canadian Association of Business Schools, Toronto, Ontario)
Last weekend, a delegation of Sprott students competed in JDC Central, which was hosted by the Canadian Association of Business Schools in Toronto. The team of Sonia Fendt, Isabela Murillo and Adam Webb won second place in the International Business case.
JDCC Central is the Canada’s largest undergraduate business competition with competitors from business schools in Ontario, Quebec and Maritimes.
