Sprott PhD alumnus named director of Guelph's School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management
Congratulations to PhD in Management alumnus Statia Elliot, PhD/07, who has been appointed director the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management at the University of Guelph, effective August 1, 2014.
Statia joined the faculty at the University of Guelph upon graduating from Sprott in 2007, where she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in tourism management. She is an active researcher and has published many refereed articles, book chapters and technical reports in the areas of wine identity, culinary travel and destination image. She currently serves as President of the Travel and Tourism Research Association (Canada Chapter).
Her PhD thesis is entitled, “A Comparative Analysis of Tourism Destination Image and Product-Country Image”. She was supervised by Nicolas Papadopoulos, Chancellor’s Professor of Marketing and International Business.
Statia returned to the Carleton campus last fall for Sprott’s PhD Connect, an annual networking event for PhD in Management students and alumni. She took part in an alumni panel and shared her experience in the program and after graduation.
