BCom alum Janice Charette named Clerk of the Privy Council

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced yesterday the appointment of Janice Charette, BCom/84, as Clerk of the Privy Council, effective October 6, 2014.

Presently the Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council and Associate Secretary to the Cabinet, Janice Charette has had a prominent 30-year career in the federal public service. She began her career in the Department of Finance and progressed to senior positions, including Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

“I am very pleased to appoint Ms. Charette to this important role as the head of Canada’s Public Service. Ms. Charette’s knowledge and many years of experience will be a tremendous asset and I look forward to continuing to work with her.” – Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
