Michael B. Darch appointed Executive in Residence
Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business and Faculty of Engineering and Design are pleased to announce the appointment of Michael B. Darch as Executive in Residence.
As Executive in Residence at Carleton, Mr. Darch will advise and assist faculty and students in international business and the Masters of Technology Innovation Management program on issues pertaining to global business and technology innovation.
Mr. Darch brings over 35 years of experience in technology management, innovation and economic development in both the private and public sectors. His long and distinguished career in international business includes the roles of entrepreneur, senior manager and military officer
He is presently the executive director of OCRI’s Ottawa Global Marketing group, which is responsible for attracting investment, companies and people to Ottawa.
Mr. Darch has extensive executive leadership experience in the private sector. He is the president of Micala Inc, an Ottawa company providing technology management and economic development services. Formerly, he was president of Viva Interactive Learning Inc, a company producing computer-based health and safety educational products. He was also president of REDO, an organization that assisted the Ottawa economy to adjust to the federal government downsizing announced in 1995. Prior to that appointment, he was founder and president of Landsdowne Technologies, which provided management services to large technology projects, primarily in the aerospace and defence sectors.
He also served for 11 years in the Canadian Forces where he worked on major capital acquisition and maintenance policy development.
Mr. Darch has served on several boards of both private and not-for-profit organizations, including as Chair of the Ottawa Economic Development Corporation.
