Introducing Sprott’s new management team

Dean Jerry Tomberlin is pleased to welcome the newest members of the management team at the Sprott School of Business, whose terms started on July 1, 2010.

Dr. Mike Hine has been appointed Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies for a three-year term. Dr. Hine is an Associate Professor in Information Systems and has been teaching in the undergraduate programs at Sprott since 2003. In this role, Dr. Hine will oversee the delivery of Sprott’s Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of International Business programs, ensuring that the school fulfills its promise to deliver quality programs to outstanding students.

Dr. Steven Murphy has been re-appointed Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies for a four-year term. He has spent the past two years focusing on increasing our engagement and productivity in research and scholarship, as well as enhancing the quality of our graduate programs. Dr. Murphy began a one-year sabbatical on July 1. Dr. Shaobo Ji, director of Sprott’s PhD program, has been appointed Interim Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies.

Dr. Roland Thomas has been appointed Assistant Dean, MBA Programs, and will oversee the domestic MBA program, as well as Sprott’s MBA programs in China and Iran. Dr. Thomas has served many roles at the Sprott School of Business over 20 years, including Dean (acting) from 2007-2008.

Dr. Tomberlin thanks Dr. Shibu Pal, exiting Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies, and Dr. Ian Lee, exiting MBA Director, for their significant contributions to the provision of high quality business education at the Sprott School of Business. Both Dr. Pal and Dr. Lee began a one-year sabbatical on July 1.
