Lauren is a third-year Bachelor of International Business (BIB) student in the German language stream. She is studying at Berlin School of Economics and Law in Berlin, Germany. (All students in the BIB program are required to study abroad for their third year at one of our partner institutions.)Introduce yourself! Tell us a little bit about your goals and interests:I could probably live on cheese, wine, and chocolate, but since I'm going to Germany I guess it will have to be beer and bread! My concentration is Global Financial Management and Systems, but I'm really passionate about saving the environment and improving sustainability. I like to make people laugh and enjoy being with my friends. Why did you choose your language?I chose German because I wanted a challenge, and thought it would be cool. Since I know French, I decided I wanted something a little different to what I'm used to. It doesn't hurt that the German economy is also one of the biggest in the world!Have you ever traveled overseas before? If so, where?I have never traveled overseas prior to this exchange, I've only ever traveled to the United States. Moving to Germany will be my first, ever, trip abroad! What three things MUST you take with you while abroad?Choosing three things aside from the obvious (phone, computer, adapter):1. My skincare routine: its extensive and expensive and I don't need it but I have to have it.2. My reusable water bottle and metal straw: I'm doing my best to be sustainable wherever I go!3. My jean jacket: so people think I'm cool! What are you most looking forward to?I'm really looking forward to meeting new people and making friends from around the world. My host institution has a lot of international students (including me, obviously), and I hope to make connections with new people from new cultures and share in the new experiences together.
