Julia is a third-year Bachelor of International Business (BIB) student in the Spanish language stream. She is studying at Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, Argentina. (All students in the BIB program are required to study abroad for their third year at one of our partner institutions.)
Introduce yourself! Tell us a little bit about your goals and interests:
Hi! I’m Julia. I grew up in Sussex, New Brunswick before moving to Ottawa for school. I am currently in my third year of the International Business program at Sprott with a concentration in Human Resources Management and International Strategy. My short-term goals include being trilingual (English, French, and Spanish), starting a career in human resources, and traveling as much as possible. I’m always looking for new opportunities and adventures! I love travelling, trying new foods, visiting new places, being outdoors, public speaking, and spending time with family and friends.
Why did you choose your language?
I chose Spanish because I wanted to learn a language where I will be fully fluent by the time I graduate. Since I already know French, I figured Spanish would be relatively easy to learn thanks to the similarities between the two languages.
Have you ever travelled overseas before? If so, where?
Nope...the furthest I have been is the United States (Puerto Rico, California, and Florida), and I have traveled extensively in Canada
What 3 things MUST you take with you while abroad?
Hmm...passport is super important, a journal to document my adventure, and my Carleton sweater
What are you most looking forward to?
