Vinay Dandawati

Manager, Executive Office – National Gallery of Canada Foundation

Hometown: Carleton Place

Years of Work Experience: 10

Born and raised in Mumbai, India, I began my career in films as an Assistant Director before transitioning into marketing roles across India following business school in Rennes, France. After moving to Canada nearly a decade ago, I shifted into the not-for-profit sector, contributing to organizations such as The Ottawa Hospital Foundation and now the National Gallery of Canada Foundation, where I support executive leadership and focus on governance activities while also managing key donor relations. My career reflects a consistent thread; building connections, shaping narratives, and advancing missions that create lasting impact.

Why did you choose the Sprott Professional MBA?

I chose the Sprott MBA to strengthen my skillset and broaden my perspective. In recent years, I’ve gained 360-degree exposure to organizational administration spanning governance, finance, and human resources, and I’m eager to translate this experience into stronger strategic and leadership capabilities.

Fun Fact:

Before moving into the not-for-profit sector, I briefly explored a career in the skilled trades, spending six months as a YMCA pre-apprentice, where I learned the fundamentals of home building and renovation.
