Dr. Samira Farivar is an Associate Professor of Information Systems and Business Analytics at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. She holds a PhD in Information Systems from the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, and both a BSc and MSc in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and Amirkabir University of Technology, respectively.

Dr. Farivar’s research examines how emerging technologies—particularly artificial intelligence (AI), conversational agents, and social media platforms—reshape user behavior, organizational accountability, and business operations. Her work spans several interrelated areas, including conversational AI and human–technology interaction, influencer marketing and digital advocacy, AI transparency and algorithmic trust, as well as social commerce and platform design.

In addition to her work on technology-mediated interactions, Dr. Farivar also conducts research on data-driven decision-making and supply chain management.

Her research has appeared in leading journals such as Information & Management, Internet Research, Computers in Human Behavior, and International Journal of Information Management.

Dr. Farivar is not currently accepting MSc and PhD students.
