Devin Fraser is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, in the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with a Master of Accounting and Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton, he earned a place on the CPA National Honour Roll, ranking in the top one percent of exam writers across Canada.
Before joining academia, he worked in PwC Canada’s Audit & Assurance group, focusing on financial services, pensions, and not-for-profit clients, and later in Forensic Services, where he worked on fraud investigations, risk assessments, and restructuring engagements using advanced data analytics and forensic tools. He also served as Finance Manager at Smart & Biggar, Canada’s largest intellectual property law firm, leading its finance team through the firm’s acquisition by IPH.
At Carleton, Devin teaches financial accounting, data analytics, and accounting cases at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has authored widely used teaching materials, coached award-winning international case competition teams, and received both Carleton’s New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award and the Sprott Teaching Excellence Award. Several of his Master of Accounting students have also achieved national distinction on the CPA Honour Roll.
Devin contributes actively to the profession through his work with CPA Canada, where he has served as an author and marker and currently serves on the CFE leadership team as an Assistant Team Leader. He is also engaged in national consultations on the new CPA Professional Program and at Carleton serves as Academic Director of MBA Programs and Teaching Area Coordinator for Accounting.
