Questions about the GMAT or GRE

The GMAT is not waived regardless of cumulative grade point average, years of professional experience or number of degrees as it is a mandatory admission requirement.
Accelerated MBA applicants may request a GMAT waiver within their application for consideration by the Admissions Team. Note that a waiver is not guaranteed, and applicants may be asked to complete MBA Math (an online self-paced series of learning modules) in order to demonstrate certain aptitudes.

While we appreciate your background, the GMAT is a mandatory admission criteria that must be fulfilled in order to be considered for the Sprott MBA program.

Yes, we will accept the GRE in the place of the GMAT criteria so long as the GRE score is equivalent to the minimum requirement of 550 on the GMAT. Please refer to the following link to assist you in the conversion of GRE test scores. http://www.ets.org/gre/institutions/about/mba/comparison_tool/

Questions about the International Student Applications and English Proficiency

We do not offer Winter admission. There is one entry point for the program – September of each year.

We will only consider a student from India with a 3-year undergraduate degree if the degree is from an institution accredited by either AACSB, EQUIS or AMBA. There are no exceptions to the criteria.Determine if your institution is accredited by AACSB, EQUUS or AMBA.

Unfortunately, no. International candidates are only considered for full-time studies and we no longer offer part-time studies.

This is a policy set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies that we have to abide by.
If your first language is not English, you must prove your language proficiency by:
- presenting one of the official Language Proficiency (ESL) test scores;
- showing that you have completed ESLA 1900 or ESLA 1905 at Carleton University with a final grade of B- or higher; or
- presenting official certification (transcripts) that you have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree within the past three years in a university in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom or any country in which the primary language is English, where the language of instruction in the relevant educational institution was English, and the language of instruction in your most recently completed undergraduate or graduate degree was English.

We are very strict in ensuring the English proficiency requirement is met and therefore, we do not offer conditional admission for those who do not meet the English proficiency requirement.

Questions about Admissions Requirements and Application Process

No, while we welcome students with a range of work experience, the Sprott MBA includes an integrative experiential internship to ensure that all MBA graduates complete the program ready to succeed in the job market. Students with two or more years of professional work experience may apply to be exempted from the internship once in-program.

Complete applications for both domestic and international students are processed on a rolling basis. You will be notified by email once a decision is made.

A degree in almost any discipline can be considered provided all other admission requirements are met.

The degree can be either in the form of a four-year honors program or a three-year program plus one additional year of study in any discipline at the university-level.
On a case by case basis, we may consider those Domestic applicants who possess a 3-year degree as long as they possess at least ten years of progressive, professional experience.

No, the Sprott MBA does not include a thesis. As the program is strictly course based, a supervisor is not required.

A minimum GMAT score of 550 overall or equivalent GRE score, a 4-year undergraduate degree in any discipline with a cumulative average over all four years of a “B”. Two recommendations are also required. If you have been out of academia for at least four years or more, professional recommendations may be used, otherwise academic recommendations are required. You may also be required to meet the minimum Language Proficiency criteria. Please review the comprehensive list of admission criteria.

To determine if a candidate meets the CGPA requirement, all four years of study and all courses are taken into account when calculating the cumulative grade point average.

The internship takes place in the third semester, Spring/Summer semester, which is from May – August of the year following the start of your program.

The full-time program is designed to be completed in 16 months over four consecutive semesters, beginning each September and finishing in December of the year following.
