Towards Human-Centered, Virtue-Focused AI Engagement

Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

https://carleton-ca.zoom.us/j/94499995152

Presenter: Dr. Alejo José G. Sison

Abstract

How do we ensure AI serves the twin goals of human welfare and flourishing in business? Mere value alignment is not enough because algorithms, though crucial, are just one element of the AI system. AI systems are tools, not ends in themselves, and to use them properly means subjecting them to human purposes. Virtues are key to this endeavor. This talk offers key insights to frame ethical issues in business involving AI.
