Farnaz Zaredorahi

Phd Candidate

Area of Research: Accounting

Farnaz is a PhD student in Sustainability Accounting, having started her academic journey in 2023 with a deep passion for making a difference. She combines her background as a Business Analyst with her growing expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research to understand Sustainability from different angles. Her journey into the World of Sustainability began during her Master’s degree when she explored the Financial Sustainability of Iran’s banking system during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a study of a sector in crisis soon became a realization of the critical role Sustainability plays in our world, leading her to focus on Impact Measurement and Materiality—how companies can measure and communicate the Environmental, Social, and Financial impacts of their activities.

Farnaz’s curiosity continues to lead her down exciting new paths, where Financial Accounting and Sustainability meet. She’s also fascinated by the potential of advanced tools like Large Language Models to uncover fresh insights into Sustainability-focused studies.

Farnaz currently serves as a Research Assistant for several leading research-based organizations, including the Common Approach to Impact Measurement and the Canadian Philanthropy Partnership Research Network. She has also contributed to a project on Circular Economy in Canada, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Farnaz has already made notable contributions to academic publications. Her first publication was co-authoring a paper on impact measurement practices, which was published in the Social Enterprise Journal.
But Farnaz is more than just a student! She’s a passionate advocate for sustainability. As an active member of the Sustainable Speakers Club in London, Farnaz loves inspiring others to see sustainability as a shared responsibility, beyond just academia or the corporate world, where every small action drives meaningful change towards a more sustainable future.
