Safeguarding Science webinar hosted by Public Safety Canada on the topic of Travelling Safely. The virtual event is scheduled for Friday, May 16th from 1-2.30 pm and registration is required. This module provides a global overview of the threat environment when travelling, a summary of techniques used by foreign governments to gain advantage of your research, and best practices to follow before, during, and after your trip.
At Carleton University, our Safeguarding Your Research intranet site has an entire page dedicated to Travel Preparations, which provides tailored guidance in the areas of Travel Registration, Before Travel and Post Travel. These resources and best practices can serve as a reference guide and equip our researchers with the knowledge needed to protect yourselves and your devices, data, and research materials, no matter the destination.
In addition, our Find Resources and Training intranet page includes materials for International Travel, including reference to Carleton University’s Brightspace Training, “Information Security Awareness for Researchers: Module 5 – Travelling Security”, International SOS, Travel Security Guide for University Researchers and Staff (a U15 and Universities Canada resources), Mobile Device Guidelines for High Profile Travellers (Canadian Centre for Cybersecurity), and Far From Home – A Travel Security Guide (Government of Canada).
