Sprott Alumni Award: Professional Excellence
Eugene Lundrigan, BCom/89
Eugene Lundrigan began his impressive career at the Bank of Canada in the Financial Markets Department, advancing to Trading Desk Manager before moving to Sun Life Financial where he spent most of his career.
While at Sun Life, Eugene led the public bond team in Canada, then moved to Hong Kong as VP, Investments, Asia. In addition to leading Sun Life’s investment teams in Asia, he also led Sun Life’s Asian wealth management portfolio. Eugene broadened his expertise in his next role leading the strategic planning, product development and marketing for Sun Life Hong Kong, an insurance company with HKD20B of assets. He went on to head Sun Life’s International Investment Centre, a global investment consulting team.
Eugene was tagged by the Sun Life board to help develop a business case on why Sun Life should offer its internal investment capabilities to the institutional market, primarily based on a paper he had co-written many years earlier. This led to the launch of Sun Life Capital Management Canada in October 2013 with Eugene established as Chief Operating Officer. He built the company from the ground up, becoming Canadian President and Head of Institutional Business. At the time of his retirement in December 2024, SLC Management served more than 1,300 global clients in 26 countries and managed assets of $300B AUM.
Throughout his career, Eugene has volunteered his time for many organizations. Until his retirement, he was a member of the Canadian Fixed Income Forum of the Bank of Canada. He previously served as a mentor and advisor to students on the Sprott Student Investment Fund, as well as in roles at the Canadian Coalition of Good Governance and Right to Play.

For Dave Brown, he lifelong dedication to volunteerism began while at university, where he immersed himself in student life and Carleton’s Rideau River Residence Association. Today, Dave has established himself as a community builder in his hometown of Chaffey’s Lock, a historic village in Rideau Lakes Township in Eastern Ontario.
For decades, Dave has been a pillar of the community and his tremendous contributions have helped to make Chaffey’s Lock a tourist destination for boating and heritage.
