Recognizing Industry Partner Impact: Lekadir LLP

Students at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business benefit greatly from the support of industry and community partners, who get involved in a variety of ways – from mentorship and career development to experiential learning and student associations.

The Sprott School of Business recently announced the recipient of its inaugural Industry Partner Impact Award to recognize their contributions to the student experience at Sprott.

“We are proud to recognize Lekadir LLP as the inaugural recipient of the Sprott Industry Partner Impact Award,” said Howard Nemiroff, dean, Sprott School of Business.

“At Sprott, collaboration is central to our mission to foster shared prosperity. When our local industry and the Sprott School work together, we collectively support our community’s growth. We are grateful to Lekadir for the exemplary support and mentorship they have provided to Sprott students over the past few years. I look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship in the years to come.”

Based in Ottawa, Lekadir LLP is a full-service, chartered professional accounting firm. Lekadir has been actively engaged in the Sprott School, including sponsoring case competitions, supporting student professional development, attending career networking events, and participating in industry consultations related to the school’s strategic plan. In addition, several Sprott graduates have gone on to work for Lekadir.

“At Lekadir, we believe that strong communities are built through collaboration, education, and shared purpose. Partnering with the Sprott School of Business allows us to contribute to these goals by supporting initiatives that connect classroom learning with real-world experience,” said Hani Kader, Lekadir administrative coordinator.

“We see Sprott students as the future leaders of our profession and our community. Engaging with them gives us the opportunity to share practical experience, help them develop their potential, and encourage a sense of social responsibility early in their careers. By investing in students’ growth, we’re also investing in the long-term strength and integrity of the business community.”

Lekadir has been deeply engaged in Sprott’s annual student-run tax clinic, which has assisted thousands of Carleton students in completing their tax returns. Organized by the Sprott Tax Students’ Association, the tax clinic has been held on campus annually for the over 20 years and in the last two years, satellite tax clinics were held in communities in the Ottawa area. Lekadir staff have provided training to student volunteers, and the firm has been the primary sponsor of the tax clinic.

Kader added:

“The Sprott Student Tax Clinic stands out as a truly impactful experience. Seeing students provide valuable assistance to community members who may not have access to professional tax services highlights the power of education in action. Their compassion, professionalism, and desire to make a difference are inspiring, and it reinforces why we believe so strongly in partnerships that combine learning with community service.”
