Project Title: But what about us? An examination of the etiology of hospital pharmacist wellbeing
Funder: SSHRC Insight Grant
Duration: 2 year
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the significant stress faced by Canadian healthcare workers, including hospital pharmacists who play a crucial but often overlooked role. Recent research indicates that these pharmacists experience unique work-related stressors leading to high levels of stress, anxiety, and burnout. This has resulted in higher turnover rates and absenteeism, negatively impacting healthcare quality and patient safety. To address these issues, this two-stage research program, in partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), aims to develop and validate a survey tool to identify and quantify these stressors. The goal is to improve pharmacists’ working conditions, enhance patient care, and ensure a resilient healthcare system.
