Student Blogs/Alexa in Chile
Yup, you read that title right. I am halfway through my year abroad in Chile, ALREADY!
Before I left for this exchange, people constantly talked about how my time would fly by, that I should cherish every moment and blah blah blah… all of those typical clichés. To tell you the truth, I didn’t really believe them. One year is a long time to be spending on the other side of the world away from everything you know and love, and I was afraid it was going to feel like an eternity.
Now I have one semester under my belt, and I can tell you that the time really does fly. In the beginning I thought I had all the time in the world to go everywhere and see everything. But the more time I spend here, the more I realize I want to see and do. I don’t think it’s humanly possible to do it all in one year!
No matter, this post isn’t to complain about all the things I haven’t done yet– it’s to celebrate the things I have gotten to do. I recognize just how lucky I am to have had these experiences to shape me, to help me learn and grow as a young individual. Here are some of my favourite memories of the first half of my year abroad, as a series of photos.
I am so incredibly thankful for the privilege and opportunity to live abroad for a year. Every day I am humbled by the people I meet and the places I visit. One year may seem like a lot at first, but I’m starting to realize that it’s just the tip of the iceberg. I am looking forward to many more adventures and memories on the second half of this journey!
Until next time,
Alexa
