Management Certificate for Women, delivered by the Centre for Research and Education on Women and Work (CREWW) in the Sprott School of Business, recently was recognized by HR.com’s Leadership Excellence Awards. CREWW’s Management Certificate for Women (MCW) was awarded 6th place in the category of Certificate Program with Emphasis on Leadership/Organizational Development.
“This award was based, in large part, on comments submitted to the LEAD2016 awards program by alumni from CREWW’s education programs for women,” says Merridee Bujaki, CREWW director and Associate Professor at the Sprott School of Business. “As such the award is particularly meaningful to CREWW as it reflects how much of a lasting impact the program has had on our alumni and their careers.”
The MCW is a seven-month, part-time professional program that enhances the management and leadership skills of highly motivated women. It takes into account that women have different learning and management styles than their male colleagues and responds to their learning styles by addressing personal management skills development.
“The MCW is a program that is designed by women, taken by women, and taught by women to support women’s development as managers and leaders,” says Merridee. “The program is a non-degree program open to women from all backgrounds and offers them opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in management, but it also frequently has the effect of increasing their confidence and their career aspirations.”
Another unique feature of the MCW is a bursary program offered through the Leacross Foundation. The Leacross Foundation Bursary supports women working in the not-for-profit sector, entrepreneurship, and fields in which women have traditionally been under-represented.
Applications for the 2016-2017 are now being accepted. For more information, please visit the MCW website.
