Sprott shines at JDC Central 2013
This past weekend, Sprott students competed in JDC Central 2013 at Dalhousie University in Halifax. The team brought home first place in Management of Information Systems, third overall, third in the academic cup, third in Finance and more.
Teams from 13 universities in Ontario and Eastern Canada took part in JDC Central (JDCC) this year. JDCC is a three-day competition that tests undergraduate business students in eight academic case competitions, a parliamentary debate, sports and social competitions.
Following last year’s success, Sprott once again claimed third overall and collected seven trophies in all.
- 1st Management of Information Systems
- 1st Participation
- 3rd Overall (School of the Year)
- 3rd Academic Cup
- 3rd Finance
- 2nd Social
- 3rd Sport
In the academic case categories, students showcase their business acumen and presentation skills in front of a panel of industry professionals. They are given three hours to resolve a case and prepare a 20-minute presentation.
The Management of Information Systems (MIS) team of Max Melekhovets, Natasha Yee and Myles Foster claimed first place, repeating last year’s MIS win. Sprott is building a legacy in information systems. Last month, Sprott students won first place in MIS at ICBC.
Jeux du Commerce was founded in Quebec in 1989 when a group of undergraduate conceived of the idea for student led, student run competition to foster excellence and competitive spirit among the province business school. Today, JDC has grown into the leading French-language business competition in the world and has spawned English-language counterparts – JDC West and JDC Central. The JDC events offer a unique blend of academic, athletic and social events that make them among the most well-rounded of any competition in the country.
