In December, I had the opportunity to take a 10 day trip with 100 students through the southeast area of Mexico. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and we covered a lot of territory. I feel like we did so much in such little time that the days are all blended together. We went to Oaxaca, San Cristóbal de las Casas, Palenque, Puebla and Teotihuacán, just to name a few!
Before I came to Mexico, I only had experience traveling in Canada and the U.S.A. I have become very comfortable with visiting new places in Mexico. I believe that going away for a weekend or so provides a great opportunity to practice speaking Spanish and experiencing more of the culture, rather than what you get in your daily life as a student.
Back in Canada, I often hear people say they would never go to Mexico due to things that they hear about in the news but Mexico has a lot to offer! If you are feeling adventurous, you will have the opportunity to see amazing sights that range from waterfalls to ancient pyramids. To those people back home I say, "Look at what you’re missing!"

If you would like to know more about travelling in Mexico, please contact me! I might offer a different point of view than usual (being a 20-year-old female student who is living in the second biggest city in the country). I'd be happy to answer any questions.
