Professor Nicolas Papadopoulos appointed to editorial board of leading international business journal

Dr. Nicolas Papadopoulos, Carleton University Chancellor’s Professor and Professor of Marketing and International Business, has been appointed to the Editorial Review Board of the prestigious Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS). JIBS is the official publication of the Academy of International Business, the preeminent association of scholars and specialists in the field of international business.

“I see review work as very important,” says Dr. Papadopoulos. “It’s a great way both to keep up to date with the literature and give back to the profession. I have been reviewing for JIBS ad hoc for some time, and it was nice to be invited to join the board.”

In addition to JIBS, Dr. Papadopoulos also serves on the editorial boards of seven academic journals, including the top-rated Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and International Marketing Review. His honours for his editorial work include two Top Ten Reviewers awards (2008 and 20011) from International Marketing Review, Outstanding Service Award (2009) from the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Best Reviewer Award (2007) in International Business by the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada.

Dr. Papadopoulos is a leading researcher in the areas of international market selection, place images and nation branding. He has authored, co-authored, or edited over 270 publications, including 15 books and 66 refereed journal articles and book chapters. He has given more than 100 workshops, seminars, keynote addresses, and other invited talks in numerous countries around the world.

A number of faculty members at the Sprott School of Business serve on editorial boards of major academic journals, in addition to many others who participate in ad-hoc reviewing . The process of peer-review lies at the core of academic research and knowledge sharing.  How one reviews, and the passion one brings to their reviews, directly links to the quality of the final research.
